Introduction:

Indian cuisine is a treasure trove of flavors, and one dish that never fails to tantalize taste buds is Tawa Paneer. This dish, infused with aromatic spices and sizzling on the hot griddle, is a true delight for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. In this recipe, we will take you through the steps to create this mouthwatering Tawa Paneer that will transport you straight to the streets of India.

Ingredients:

250g paneer (Indian cottage cheese), cubed
2 tablespoons oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, pureed
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
Salt, to taste
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnish
Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions:

1. Preparation:
Cut the paneer into cubes and soak them in warm water for 10-15 minutes. This step ensures the paneer stays soft and tender during cooking.
Heat the tawa (griddle) on medium-high heat. Once hot, add 1 tablespoon of oil.

2. Sautéing the Paneer:
Drain the paneer cubes and add them to the hot tawa. Cook until they turn golden brown on all sides. Remove the paneer from the tawa and set it aside.

3. Tempering:
In the same tawa, add another tablespoon of oil. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw aroma disappears.

4. Adding Spices:
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes until the oil starts to separate from the masala.

5. Introducing Tomato Puree:
Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the mixture thickens and the oil floats on top.

6. Vegetables and Paneer:
Add the thinly sliced green and red bell peppers. Cook for a few minutes until they are slightly tender yet retain their crunch.
Gently slide in the sautéed paneer cubes and mix them with the masala and vegetables.

7. Final Touch:
Sprinkle garam masala powder and season with salt according to your taste. Mix well to coat the paneer and vegetables evenly with the spices.
Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves, adding a burst of freshness and color to the dish.

8. Serving:
Transfer the Tawa Paneer to a serving dish. Serve hot, garnished with a few more coriander leaves and accompanied by lemon wedges.

Conclusion:
Tawa Paneer is a celebration of flavors, bringing together the richness of paneer, the spice of Indian masalas, and the crunch of bell peppers. This dish not only satisfies your taste buds but also fills your kitchen with delightful aromas. So, put on your chef's hat and get ready to sizzle up this delectable Tawa Paneer that's bound to become a favorite at your dinner table!
